TikTok star Avani Gregg on style and his Skechers campaign
She may only be 18, but TikTok star Avani Gregg’s daring beauty looks already have has amassed over 35 million followers On the platform.
“I started doing illustrations on paper and I was like, ‘You know what? I’ll move on to makeup. So I started using my eyeshadow as a face paint and I just… filmed it, ”Gregg recently told Page Six Style at an event celebrating his new collaboration with Skechers.
The Indiana native jumped to social media stardom in 2019, thanks to a viral transformation clip with extremely complex clown makeup that took over six hours to create.
Since then, she has posted many more scary yet stunning beauty looks – and branched out into fashion content, as she has always been passionate about personal style.
“Throughout high school, I didn’t rehearse an outfit on a single day, even to this day,” Gregg said.
And even though she is dating her fellow TikToker Anthony Reeves, she dresses only for herself, telling us, “I’m going to put on what I like and say, ‘Well, if I like her, why is- this important? “”
Gregg takes particular inspiration from Y2K fashion – fitted, as it was born in 2002 – and gravitates towards Ed Hardy tattoo prints, crop tops and low rise jeans. Its latest partnership with Skechers, one of the most successful footwear brands of the 2000s, therefore makes sense.
The social media phenomenon is playing out in the new campaign for the Skechers Uno Trainers, pairing the brightly colored kicks with everything from a fuchsia tulle dress and chunky silver chains to her signature neon eyeliner and bubble braids.
“I just knew this was the perfect opportunity to show that I can do something with shoes too. I’ve always been a Skechers fan, ”said Gregg.
Priced at $ 80, the Uno is available in neutral hues like black, white, and beige, as well as bold shades like bright blue, cherry red, and hot pink.
“As soon as they sent me the original concept, I knew what I wanted to do with the colors,” she shared. “I thought about what would grab the attention of people my age – everyone is in the Y2K type deal. In the end, I had eight different mood board pages!
As for fans looking to find their own personal style? Gregg has a tip: “Whatever you want to wear, try it. The worst that can happen is that you don’t like it, and that is why the clothes are not attached to our body.
